Learn more about NextGen Ministries! 〰️

At Vineyard of Hope, we are committed to seeing the hope of Jesus multiplied in the next generation. Our vision is to raise children and youth who are deeply rooted in Christ, equipped to lead today, and empowered to live out their faith boldly. The next generation is not just the future of the church—they are an essential part of the church right now.

We believe every young person is a unique expression of God’s kingdom, and it’s our calling to invest in them as disciples and leaders. By building a solid foundation of faith, a strong identity in Christ, and creating opportunities to lead, we prepare them to impact the world around them. We see the NextGen ministry as a key part of VOH’s mission to multiply the hope of Jesus in our church, city, and world.

To accomplish this, we are committed to fostering connections between families, leaders, and ministries, creating a seamless pathway for spiritual growth and discipleship. It is a shared effort to raise up a generation that is not only confident in their faith but actively living it out in every area of their lives.

This mission is urgent. Research (Lifeway Research) shows that 66% of young adults stop attending church regularly for at least a year after high school. Many are unprepared to stand firm in their faith when faced with cultural pressures in college or adulthood. At VOH, we want to reverse this trend by developing a cohesive plan that equips young people with clarity, confidence, and purpose to follow Jesus every day of their lives.

Next Steps for VOH NextGen Ministry (0–18 years)
As we continue to grow as one church with two congregations, we are taking intentional steps to unify and strengthen our NextGen ministries, care for families holistically, and equip young people to be leaders now. Over the next six months, we will be implementing several transitions to better serve our children, youth, and families. We recognize that transitions can bring questions, and we are committed to providing regular updates along the way.

Christina Lee: Administrative Director for NextGen Ministries
Christina Lee will step into the role of Administrative Director for NextGen Ministries, bringing alignment and strategic direction to Vineyard Kids and youth ministries from both the Chinese and English congregations. She will focus on strengthening systems and curriculum to create a seamless, intentional experience for children and youth from infancy through high school. Her leadership will not only enhance structure and strategy but also ensure that our teams and volunteers are supported, valued, and equipped, fostering a healthy and effective ministry that nurtures the next generation in their faith.

Tammie Chen: Transitioning from VKIDS Director to Pastoral Resident
Tammie Chen will be transitioning from her role as VKids Director into a new role as Pastoral Resident, with a special emphasis on supporting families in the Chinese congregation. Tammie’s heart for families has been evident, and this new role will allow her to provide deeper pastoral care, equipping parents to disciple their children and strengthening their connection to the church.

Pastor Job Ang: Caring for Families
Pastor Job Ang will continue to provide pastoral care for families in the English congregation, walking alongside parents and children to encourage spiritual growth and discipleship in the home. His leadership will play a key role in fostering strong family connections within our church community, ensuring that parents are equipped to raise their children in faith and that families feel supported in every stage of life.

Vineyard Kids Leadership Team
To ensure continued stability and support for Vineyard Kids:

  • Mrs. Kwan will continue as the Supervisor for Vineyard Kids, and the overall NextGen ministries.

  • Elleen Wang will remain the Assistant Director of Vineyard Kids.

  • Pastor Baldwin Chan will provide pastoral covering and care for NextGen ministries, complementing the pastoral care for families provided by Tammie Chen and Pastor Job Ang.

We invite you to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, and strength for our NextGen leaders as they step into these roles.

VKids Transitions
As part of this vision, there will be a few additional transitions within VKids to ensure long-term health and growth in the ministry. We want to assure families that our commitment to providing a strong and engaging discipleship experience for children remains unchanged. These changes are part of a larger vision to strengthen NextGen ministries at VOH, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to know Jesus, grow in faith, and experience the love of God through the church.

📅 Parent Meeting: May 18, 12:30–2:00 PM (Kingdom Kids Room)
To provide updates and address any questions, we will hold a parent meeting on Sunday, May 18 from 12:30–2:00 PM in the Kingdom Kids room. This will be an opportunity to hear more details, understand the transitions ahead, and connect with the NextGen team. Our goal is to make this shift as smooth as possible while staying focused on the long-term impact for the next generation.

NextGen Goals at VOH
To see the hope of Jesus multiplied in the next generation, we will:

  • Empower kids and youth to lead today: Leadership doesn’t start later—it starts now. By creating opportunities for kids and youth to serve, lead, and grow in their faith through VKIDS, youth ministries, and Sunday services, we are raising young disciples who know their value and purpose in God’s kingdom.

  • Partner with parents and families: Parents are the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives. We will walk alongside families with resources, tools, and pastoral care to equip them to disciple their kids and build a strong foundation of faith at home.

  • Create spaces to encounter God: From engaging VKIDS lessons to youth worship nights, we will provide environments where kids and youth can experience God personally, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their faith.

Let’s pray, encourage, and invest in this generation as they grow into strong disciples of Jesus who boldly multiply His hope in their lives, families, and communities.

Grace and Peace,
The Vineyard of Hope Pastoral Team
